In what could be mentioned as a meeting held in a record timing, the Standing Committee meeting was convened under the newly elected Chairman Bandu Raut on March 18, 2016 with just 11 members out of a total of 16 members and 26 topics were discussed and sanction for Rs 39.62 crores worth of Cement Road projects were given within minutes.

After the Standing Committee meeting, instead of the Chairman of Standing Committee Bandu Raut, his Personal Secretary Praful Farkase said that the contract work of constructing a retaining wall of a canal in Zone No 4 (B) has been given to M/s Rajesh Rangari at a cost of 32% below the estimated rate. The matter had come for approval before the Standing Committee. Chairman of Standing Committee Bandu Raut immediately questioned how could M/s Rajesh Rangari construct the retaining wall of a canal 32% below the estimated rate.

10 other contractors had also contested the tender of which Rajesh Rangari bagged the contract since his was the lowest rate.

However, it is also a fact that the Tender Contractor Association of which M/s Rangari is also a member had contested the tender is not at par with ring of Contractors Association led under the leadership of President of Contractors Association Vijay Naidu and Ring Master Prakash Potpuse.

Even today the members of the Contractors Association were openly forming a ring under the leadership of Vijay Naidu and Prakash Potpuse and were looting lacks of rupees on NMC tenders. Even though the authorities and officials of NMC, office-bearers of Ruling Party, Opposition, Crime Branch know the happenings of the Contractors Association, their silence over this matter raises many eye-brows.

After this the Standing Committee approved and sanctioned Cement Road Construction works worth Rs 39.67 Crores. These include the following road-stretches.

  1. Mahatma Gandhi NMC School T-Point to LAD College Square
  2. Gayatri Mandir Road to Ring Road, Behind IT Park
  3. Tekdi Road Ramnagar Square to North Ambazhari Road
  4. Gajanand Mandir to Karsule-Jaiswal to Hanuman Temple to near Water Tank
  5. Rameshwari Road, Ambedkar Square to Ring Road
  6. Trisharan Square to Pragati Colony Road to Ring Road Banerjee Layout
  7. Balaji Nagar Canal to Venu Corner

  9. Shakardhara Lake to Duttatreya Nagar to Shakardhara CC Road to Laxmi Devi Bajaj Ayurvedic Clinic
  10. Gajanan School to Uday Nagar Square Ring Road,
  11. Gajanand School to Mhalgi Nagar Square.

The Standing Committee also waived the Row Fees for laying optical fibre cable of the Conservation Ministry (Central Government). However a condition was laid not to pay any fees to the contractor for this tender.

Another significant decision was the sanction of Rs 16, 96, 150 which will be the expenses borne by NMC out of the total expected expenses of Rs 51,96,150/- for the upcoming Mayor’s Kabaddi Competition.

The proposal for the Mobile Towers has been sent by the Standing Committee to be approved in the General Body Meeting.

The proposal for a sum of Rs 1, 23, 37, 551/- was sanctioned for the upcoming e-library in Mahal area.

An extension has been granted for the work of Document Scanning to Pintu Kayarkar’s Decofurm Constructions for the second term.
