Trucks on a killing spree in city: 2 killed on the spot, 3 injured

: Wednesday seems to be ill-fated for many. Trucks plying on ring road from Mhalgi Nagar Square to Chattrapati Nagar Square seem to be a frequent accident prone spots.

On Wednesday, August 31, 2016 two accidents occurred on the same road, at Mhalgi Nagar Square and Omkar Nagar Square.

In the first accident, while a woman was killed on the spot, her husband and two kids escaped with injuries. In the second incident, a young girl was crushed to death by a speeding truck.

In the first incident, a woman was killed on the spot and her husband and two children were injured when the two-wheeler they were riding in was rammed by a speeding truck at Mhalgi Nagar Square on Tuesday night. The driver of the killer truck has been arrested.

The deceased Kunda Devanand Chaudhary (30), resident of Prabhat Nagar, Narsala Road, along with husband Devanand, son and daughter, was returning home on their two-wheeler (MH-40/AJ 2815) around 10.15 pm on Tuesday. The Chaudhary family was on their way to home after having dinner at the house of Devanand’s friend. As they were nearing Mhalgi Nagar Square, a recklessly driven truck (MH-35/K 6129) rammed the two-wheeler with forceful impact. As a result, the four of the family fell on the road. Unfortunately, Kunda came under the wheels of the truck and was crushed to death. Devanand and the two children also received injuries. Upon information, Hudkeshwar police reached the spot and arrested the truck driver Sheikh Rafiq Sheikh Bashir (35).

API Bele has registered a case against the arrested truck driver under Sections 304(A), 279, 337 of the IPC. Further probe is underway.

In the second incident, an unidentified young girl riding a TVS Scooty Pep bearing RTO registration No MH-49/ AD-9414 came under the speeding truck bearing RTO Registration No WB-23/ C-6050.

The right leg of the young girl was crushed badly and she died on the spot. The local resident expressed their anger on the truck since the driver had deserted the vehicle and ran away.

Till the time of filing the story, the identity of the victim could not be ascertained. The cops of Ajni Police Station have reached the accident spot and were still completing the formalities.
