Nagpur News Today:  City power distribution company Spanco has been issued a notice by its contractors. The contractors threaten to stop all work if their outstanding dues are not paid within 72 hours.

Spanco has been taking the help of eight private companies to run its franchisee in the city. Elcon Engineers, Hindustan Engineering Corporation, A. T Associates, Imperial Electrical Company, G V Electrical Privrate Limited and L. S. G Electricals are involved. All these companies have been helping Spanco by providing human and other resources since May 2011.

Spanco has been dependent on the above companies for power distribution to Civil Lines, Gandhibag and Mahal areas. The company has been deferring payments for quite some time. Some Spanco employees had conducted a strike from work a few days earlier, citing a similar problem of non- payment of wages.

Spanco has no human resource or machinery of it’s own. Hence, if the threatening private companies do pull out, the citizens of Nagpur will have to suffer the consequences.
