Nagpur News: At league phase by winning four matches in a row, Southern Railway Chennai entered the quarterfinals in 69th All India Railway Football Championship organised by South Eastern Central Railway Sports Association (SECRSA) at Motibagh ground on Wednesday.
So far Southern Railway are leading the points tally with 12 points. The second will be decided after the match between host SECR and Southern Railway to be played on Thursday.
On Wednesday, Southern Railway overcame North East Frontier (NFR) Guwahati 2-0. Elanurjan scored both the goals in 10th and 55th minutes. NFR too got sev eral opportunities but failed to convert them.
During the proceedings, Rajesh, Pradeep and Unnikrishnan of Southern Railway were cautioned for rough tactics. Deepak Ghattwar and Raju Singh were also penalised. In another tie Integral Coach Factory (ICF) Perambur blanked Rail Wheel Factory (RWF) 2-0. In the 6th minute Satyam gave 1-0 lead to ICF.
