Nagpur: Sonegaon police the other day foiled a dacoity plan and arrested six members of a gang in Manish Nagar. Lethal arms and other material likely to be used in the dacoity have been seized from the possession of the arrested persons. The arrest could lead to cracking of many crimes, the DCP Deepali Masirkar told media persons at a press meet.
The Head Constable Harshal Patmase, attached to Sonegaon Police Station received a tip-off from an informant that a gang of some suspicious persons were seating in an auto and motorcycle in Manish Nagar area. Patmase immediately shared the information with API Nitin Pagar, who in turn, alerted Police Inspector Ashok Bagul. Subsequently, a team of policemen reached the spot and surrounded the suspicious persons. Spotting the cops, the gang members tried to flee but were chased hotly by the cops. Six members of the gang were immediately nabbed by the chasing cops.
The accused have been identified as Pravin Ramgopal Mina (24), a resident of Plot No. 94, Betarodi Road; Ravi Dilip Thakre (21), a resident of New Vaishali Nagar; Rajendra Ramprasad Lanjewar (19), a resident of Jai Hind Society, Shyam Nagar; Rahul alias Vishal Shyamchandra Roy (18), a resident of Kaikadi Nagar; Pratik Ramesh Giri (18), a resident of Shyam Nagar and Shankar Kawaduji Kumbhre (28), aresident of Besa T-point.
The police have seized lethal arms such as three sharp-edged weapons, a nylon rope, chilli powder and hockey sticks from their possession. A police officer informed that the accused have committed several offences in past including robbery, thefts and assault. Sr Police Inspector Ashok Bagul, API Nitin Pagar, HC Subhash Chavan, NCP Maroti, Constables Sandip, Himanshu Thakur, Harshal Patmase, Subhash,Rakesh and others made the arrest.
