Rural cops nab absconding MCOCA accused after a hot trail

Khaparkheda police on Thursday succeeded in arresting an absconding accused who was booked under various Sections of Indian Penal Code and provisions of MCOCA.

The accused Mohammed Latif Mohammed Hafiz (40), resident of Valni Mines, Tehsil Saoner, District Nagpur, was involved in a series of serious crimes including sand theft, looting etc. Offences under Sections 379, 109, 34 of the IPC were registered against the accused at Khaparkheda Police Station and Koradi Police Station, Later on, Latif was slapped with MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act). However, since the day MCOCA was invoked against him, Latif went absconding and was eluding the cops since the past one month.

On Thursday (August 4), Khaparkheda police received information that the absconding accused Latif was hiding in his house.

However, when a team of policemen reached the house within 14 minutes of receiving the tip-off, Latif started running to escape the police net. But the API Rajkumar and his team trapped him with a hot chase and brought him to police station.

The task was carried out under the guidance and directives of Superintendent of Police (Nagpur Rural) Anant Rokde, Local Crime Branch PI Purandare, PI Mahesh Chate.
