Sonam Kapoor will been seen playing the brave heart flight attendant Neeraj Bhanot who was killed in an American plane hijacking.
The actress has been signed for a bio pic being planned on the life of a 23year old flight attendant Neerja Bhanot, who saved many lives during the hijacking of an American airliner in Karachi.
The film will be directed by Ram Madhwani and written by the Marykom Fame Saiwyn Quadras. Till now there is no conformation from the actress side, many filmmakers had approached the Bhanots to make a biopic on the braveheart, without revealing any other details.
Neerja joined the airlines after the end of her marriage because of dowry pressure..She was the chief purser of the Pan Am flight which was hijacked by the four terrorist on September 5,1986 when it landed in Karachi. Neeraj was the one to take control over the situation; she took a smart step and hid the passengers passport so that hijackers couldn’t differentiate between American and non American citizens. Unfortunately she was killed while saving three children from bullets fired by the terrorist. The incident killed twenty passengers including Neerja and injuring over 100.
She was felicitated by the award Ashoka Chakra, she is the youngest civilian in the country to be bestowed with such an honour.
