Sensation prevailed in Pachpaoli area where a man killed his father in a fit of rage. The murder, Panchpaoli police said, occurred Tuesday night between 11 pm and 11.15 pm. Cops have arrested the 26-year-old son Roopchand Dnyaneshwar Paunikar and slapped murder charges against him.
The FIR registered by Pachpaoli police states that the deceased Dnyaneshwar Paunikar (48), a resident of Balabhaupeth, near Hanuman Mandir, was indulged in a wordy dual with his wife Rukmini Paunikar (45) later Tuesday night. Roopchand, who was a mute spectator of the quarrel, finally intervened to sort the issue. However, his father got enraged due this interference and took a scissor kept nearby and poked it into Roopchand’s leg. This enraged Roopchand who took the same scissor and stabbed it into his father’s chest. He came to his senses when blood started oozing out of his father’s chest and he died on the spot. His mother was stunned with the turn of events. Onlookers immediately informed Panchpaoli police station who rushed to the spot and arrested Roopchand. Cops later sent the body for post mortem at Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital.
On the basis of Rukmini’s complaint, Panchpaoli police have registered an offence under Sections 302 (murder) against Roopchand and took him into custody. Further investigations are in progress.
