Three students of Somalwar School sustained injuries when their mini school bus met with a road accident, dashing the divider and an electric pole, following loss of balance as its front tyre got punctured. Meanwhile a Tata Sumo coming from behind also dashed the school bus. The injured were rushed to Govt Medical College and Hospital where they were provided immediate treatment. The children suffered minor injuries, said the hospital sources.
The accident occurred at about 11.30 am on Aug 12 right in front of entrance of the office of Dy Commissioner, Zone-IV Ishu Sindhu on Ajani Road. As soon as the officers and employees of DCP’s office learnt about the accident, they rushed to the spot to extend help. The driver of Tata Sumo had by then fled the spot.
According to Ajani police, Sanjay Botare, resident of Parvati Nagar was taking about 8-10 children of Somalwar School in his mini school bus No. MH 49/ J 0412. As the bus was passing by the office of DCP Zone IV on Ajani Road, its front tyre got punctured, making the vehicle out of balance. The bus then dashed the road divider and an electric pole. As a result, 3 students suffered injuries while others were panic struck. As the news spread, the parents of some of students rushed to the spot. The citizens and passers-by consoled the students. Some children who suffered injury on head were groaning.
The accidentally damaged school bus was also bearing the advertisement mark of The Achievers’ School. It was confirmed by Sapna Katiyar, director of The Achievers School when the Nagpur Today contacted her to know whether the school bus also carried the children of The Achievers School. She said that their school’s name was displayed on the said bus for the sake of advertisement only.
