Nagpur: Good news for enthusiastic and ardent devotees of Lord Ganesh. For hundreds of Ganeshotsav Mandals will no longer have to run from pillar to post to get various permissions. Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has set up a single window system at zone level for them to obtain swifter clearances.
The Ganeshotsav Mandals have to seek permissions from police, the local body, Fire Brigade, Pollution Control Board, MSEDCL/SNDL and various other departments on various aspects. In view of hassles faced by the Mandals, Mayor Pravin Datke directed all the departments to set up one window system for clearance of various requirements. Mandated to procure around 6 to 7 clearances including- electricity, fire, sound system, police and traffic, the Mandals had to queue up at different offices seeking NOCs.
According to Mayor, a suitable place would be made available for officials and employees of different departments to sit together. The Mandals also have to ensure that the erection of pandals should not affect smooth flow of vehicular traffic. It will be mandatory for the Mandals to follow all rules and regulations regarding noise and environment pollution and other aspect.
There are more than 500 Sarvajanik Mandals in the city and the organizers are expecting the system to not only fast track the process but to enhance transparency.
