‘Silent March’ taken out to protest attacks on cops

Nagpur: Outraged by the alarming incidents of attacks on policemen, Police Mitra and Police Parivar Organization on Tuesday morning took out a “Silent March” in protest and submitted a memorandum of demands to District Collector.

The “Silent March” was taken out from Sanvidhan Chowk (RBI Square) but was stopped by police at Akashvani Square. Later, a memorandum of various demands was submitted to District Collector. The demands include immediate arrest of persons attacking cops on duty, filing of charge-sheet within 48 hours, no bail should be granted to the accused, formation of a Special Committee of Government Lawyers, trials in Fast-Track Courts, enactment of a special law for protection of policemen etc.

The “Silent March” was participated by a large number of Police Mitra and Police Parivar Organization activists. Those who submitted memorandum of demands to Collector include Nilesh Nagolkar, Vijay Marodkar, Amit Heda, Smita Musale, and retired Police Inspector Mohan Kalegaonkar.
