
Nagpur: A shop owner from the Pratap Nagar area has been allegedly cheated of over Rs 1 crore by his trusted cashier-cum-manager, who is accused of siphoning off money and misappropriation of goods over nearly four years.
The complainant, Mahesh Narayanrao Tidke (53), a resident of Paradise Society, Sonegaon, owns Narayan Bazaar located at Pratap Nagar Chowk in Ganesh Colony. According to police, the accused, Ashwin Vitthalrao Bhoyar (46), a resident of Swagat Society, Khamla, was employed at the shop as a cashier and manager.
Between January 1, 2021, and October 31, 2024, Bhoyar allegedly gained the complainant’s confidence and, for personal financial gain, manipulated stock records and misappropriated shop goods. Police said the accused betrayed the owner’s trust and caused a financial loss estimated between Rs 1 crore and Rs 1.15 crore.
Based on the complaint and subsequent inquiry, Ranapratap Nagar Police have registered a case under Sections 316(4) and 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). The offence has been registered by Woman PSI Neha Gundare. Further investigation is underway.
