Shocking Syndrome : Many Nagpur hospitals suffer from ‘Parking illness’!

The ailment is chronic and appears incurable. Most of the hospitals in Nagpur do not have proper parking facilities and inadvertently encroach upon the spaces facing their properties. Nagpur Today did a quick check across many of the upscale private hospitals in the city and noticed this shocking ‘syndrome’. Doctors who run these hospitals and clinics do not bother to provide space for the parking of vehicles, nor have they designated space for visitors parking into their properties. Patients visiting these hospitals and multi-specialty clinics undergo a harrowing time looking for space to rest their vehicles. A look at Dhantoli, Ramdaspeth, Panchasheel Square would throw open a cluster of such hospitals which lacked parking facilities, making the visitors to encroach upon the streets and areas surrounding these facilities.

Nagpur is slowly turning out to a medical hub in this part of the country. Many small, medium and big hospitals and clinics have come up in the past 5 years. While some host all specialties under one roof, other offer specialized treatment with modern state-of-the-art equipments, gadgets and machines. They offer customized treatment for specific areas. Shockingly, most of it do not have adequate parking spaces.

The relatives, kith and kin are already undergoing a very stressful time having a relative in the hospital. They have many added worries of procurement of medications, room rent, doctor’s fees, and specialist’s fees, accompanied with relative’s stay. To top that, they have to find suitable and legally approved space for parking etc.

Interestingly, many of these upscale health facilities have mushroomed in residential areas in sheer violation of rules and regulations laid out by civic body.

Citizens wonder over the lackadaisical approach of RTO, civic authorities, and medical association which permit such hospitals and multi-specialty clinics without performing a check on their parking arrangements.

If this is not enough, these hospitals and multi-specialty clinics do not allow more than one person to stay next to the patient. The other members of the family have to stay in the vehicle, or find a suitable hotel, lodge etc for living in the city till the patient gets treatment.

Sources claimed that if the situation continues, many smaller roads and streets will get perpetually jammed and the residents of these areas will face hard times traversing to and fro their houses.

Parked on whims…

Adding to the woes, most the vehicle owners often park their automobiles so haphazardly that if leaves no room for parking other vehicles. The naïve visitors have to spend most of them in finding place.
