Shiv Sena woman candidate’s campaigning car kills aged woman, kid boy in Vandevi Slums

The campaigning for NMC poll turned ghastly when the uncontrolled car of a Shiv Sena woman candidate
ploughed into Vandevi Slums and killed an aged woman and a kid boy on the spot. However, the woman candidate herself was not in the car. 3 or 4 Shiv Sena workers who were seated in the vehicle abandoned the vehicle and fled the spot.

A group of 3-4 Shiv Sena workers were campaigning for Shiv Sena candidate, wife of sitting Corporator Bandu Talvekar. They were seated in a Maruti 800 car. During the election drive, the unidentified driver of the car lost control over steering and the car ploughed into Vandevi Slum coming under Yashodhara Nagar Police Station jurisdiction. As a result, an aged woman and a toddler boy were crushed to death on the spot. 3 or 4 other persons were reportedly injured seriously and were admitted in Mayo Hospital.

The fatal accident led to volatile situation. A team of Yashodhara Police Station rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Cops have mounted an investigation into the incident.
