Shah emerges sole leader

chessNagpur: At the end of fifth round, Swapnil Shah of Mumai emerged sole leader with five points on the third day of National Open Chess Championship for Blind at Bank of India hall, RPTS road on Friday.

Shah was followed by Milind Samant, Venkat Reddy, Prasanna Kumar with 4.5 points. On top board Shah outwitted city mate Amit Deshpande. On second board, top seed Ashvi Makwana defeated Narendra Salavkar. On third board, Milind Samant recorded victory over Tijan Gawar. Vaishali Salavkar defeated better rated Venkat Reddy.
