Nagpur News: Ruling in favour of the state government, the Supreme court on Monday has allowed the Govt Medical college at Akola and Indira Gandhi Government Medical College to increase 150 seats in each in MBBS course.

It may be recalled here that a division bench of Bombay High Court’s Nagpur Bench comprising Justice Bhushan Gavai and Justice J A Haq asked the Medical Council of India to reconsider the proposal of increasing 150 seats in the two colleges, on August 28. However, the MCI held a meeting on September 2 and stayed the proposal tabled by the state government for increase in seats. The state government then moved the Supreme court and has today emerged victorious.
