A leg up for gender parity. The Centre tells the Supreme Court that a decision has been taken yesterday to allow the induction of women in the National Defence Academy (NDA).
The Centre says the decision was taken after consultation with three service chiefs.
The Supreme Court says armed forces are a very respectable force in the country but they need to do more towards gender equality in the forces. The court says it does hope that defence forces value the important role women are performing.
