Nagpur: When frustration peaks, Nagpurians know how to respond, with wit sharper than summer heat. In a unique and hilarious protest, residents of Vivekanand Nagar in Nagpur have put up a large hoarding “thanking” the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited for doing what it apparently does best, cutting power.

The message on the hoarding reads:

“THANK YOU MSEDCL FOR RESTARTING LOAD SHEDDING IN VIVEKANAND NAGAR.”

And just in case the sarcasm wasn’t obvious, they added a gem:

“We were getting too used to constant electricity!”

Power cuts meet peak summer, perfect timing!

As temperatures soar across the city, the “gift” of undeclared load shedding has returned to trouble residents. But instead of angry protests, Vivekanand Nagar has chosen satire, publicly applauding the MSEDCL for ensuring that comfort remains a distant dream.

Locals say the situation is particularly ironic as the outages are occurring in the constituency of the State’s Power Minister. “This truly shows efficiency at its peak,” one resident quipped, clearly not meaning it.

Tagging the top brass, with gratitude

Not stopping at just the hoarding, images of the sarcastic “thank you note” have been widely circulated on social media, tagging top officials and leaders including:

• Chief Minister’s Office

• Senior officials of MSEDCL

• Union Minister Nitin Gadkari

• Chandrashekhar Bawankule

· State leaders and concerned authorities

The idea? If power doesn’t reach homes, at least the message should reach the power corridors.

Humour that sparks a serious suestion

While the tone is light, the issue is not. Frequent, unannounced power cuts during extreme heat raise serious concerns about infrastructure, planning, and accountability.

But for now, Vivekanand Nagar residents have made one thing clear:

If the system won’t fix the problem, they’ll at least make sure it becomes the punchline.
