Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Panic gripped the area along the Samruddhi Mahamarg after a gas pipeline reportedly developed a leak alongside the expressway, prompting authorities to halt traffic as a precautionary measure.
The incident was reported at Channel No. 451.2 of the Samruddhi Mahamarg. A strong odour reportedly spread across the area following the gas leak, raising concerns among motorists and passengers.
As a safety precaution, traffic heading from Nagpur towards Mumbai has been stopped. Traffic has also been diverted through the Lasur-Hads Pimpalgaon toll plaza, resulting in long queues of vehicles on the route.
Soon after the leak was reported, officials from the administration and emergency services, including the fire brigade, reached the spot. Efforts are underway on a war footing to contain the leak and bring the situation under control.
The gas leak has created an atmosphere of fear among commuters, although authorities are currently working to secure the area and prevent any further risk.
