Despite a staggering box office collection on its opening day, Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan hasn’t been able to beat Baahubali.

While Ramzan kept several moviegoers from visiting the theatres yesterday (July 17), when Bajrangi Bhaijaan hit the screens, the collections are expected to be a lot higher today. The film has become Salman Khan’s second biggest opener as far as box office earnings are concerned. His last collaboration with Kabir Khan, Ek Tha Tiger, had netted an amount of Rs 32.93 crore on its opening day.
With an Indo-Pak theme at its core, Bajrangi Bhaijaan tells the story of a Pakistani child lost in India, and how a man from this side of the border takes it on himself to reunite her with her parents in Pakistan. Apart from Salman Khan in the titular role, Bajrangi Bhaijaan stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and child artiste Harshaali Malhotra in pivotal roles. The film has received mixed to positive reviews from critics, and is spinning magic at the cash registers.
Meanwhile, the Hindi version of Baahubali itself has crossed the Rs 50 crore mark.
