Last month, actor Salman Khan got acquitted of all charges in the infamous 2002 hit-and-run case. But soon after, the Government of Maharashtra decided to challenge the verdict in the Bombay High Court.
However, before government files a fresh appeal in the case, Salman has decided to move to the Supreme Court, reports a media channel. It is a precautionary move by the actor and his lawyers to combat any trouble, if any, faced by the High Court appeal.
There hasn’t been any official statement from Salman or his lawyers yet. More updates regarding the issue are expected soon.
On December 10, 2015, Justice A.R. Joshi acquitted the actor saying that the “prosecution failed to establish the charges (against Salman) on all counts”.
However, on January 22, 2016, the Maharashtra government moved to the Supreme Court against the order of the High Court.
One person had died in the accident and four severely injured when the actor ran over them in an allegedly drunk state.
