Sadar: Property Dealer Allegedly Threatened at Gunpoint, ₹50,000 Extortion Demanded

सदर में दबंगई का खेल! प्रॉपर्टी डीलर को पिस्तौल दिखाकर मांगे ₹50 हजारNagpur: A property dealer in Nagpur’s Sadar area was allegedly threatened at gunpoint and asked to pay ₹50,000 as extortion, police said. When he refused to pay, the accused allegedly assaulted him and threatened to kill him.

Based on the complaint, Sadar police have registered a case against Akash Katariya and Lakhan Hiranwar. Both accused are reportedly absconding, and police teams are searching for them.

Property dealer allegedly surrounded and threatened

According to police, complainant Vishal Mishra, 40, a resident of Azad Chowk in Sadar, works in property dealing. At around 8 p.m. on September 11, Vishal was sitting in a car and talking with a friend.

At that point, Akash Katariya and Lakhan Hiranwar allegedly arrived and began assaulting Vishal. They allegedly demanded ₹50,000 for allowing him to continue his business in the area.

During the incident, Akash allegedly pulled out a pistol and threatened Vishal. He was also allegedly threatened with death if he did not pay the money. Vishal and his friend were frightened by the sudden incident.

Hiranwar reportedly recently released on bail in murder case

Police said information has emerged linking accused Lakhan Hiranwar to the Hiranwar gang. He had reportedly recently been released from jail on bail in a murder case.

According to police records, the other accused, Akash Katariya, has 11 criminal cases registered against him. However, the nature and current status of all these cases will become clear only after the police investigation.

Police investigating whether pistol was real

Sadar police have intensified efforts to trace the accused. They are also investigating whether the pistol allegedly used to threaten Vishal was real and, if it was a genuine weapon, how it came into the accused’s possession.

Police are also examining whether the accused had previously demanded extortion from any other businessperson or individual in a similar manner.

CCTV footage and other evidence being examined

Police are reviewing footage from CCTV cameras installed around the scene and collecting other possible evidence linked to the incident.

The investigation is being conducted by API Nitin Vithole and his team. The search for the absconding accused is continuing.
