Rupees One crore 70 lakhs seized from hawala agents

: In what could be considered as one of the biggest haul till date, cops of Ganeshpeth Police Station seized Rupees One Crore 70 Lakhs from suspected hawala agents on April 5, 2016 in the evening.

According to police sources, the cops of Detective branch of Ganeshpeth Police Station were on Nakabandi duty at Agaram Devi Square at around 4 pm. On sheer suspicion, they stopped an auto rickshaw bearing RTO No MH-49 / E-0956 carrying some bags. When they asked the two passengers about what is in the bags, the passenger claimed that it was money for Hawala. The two passengers identified themselves as Yasim Khan Nustaq Khan aged 50 years and Ashish Kailash Tikkas aged 18 years and residents of Shivni (MP). Their answers raised suspicion in the minds of the cops.

However, the cops opened the bags to get the shock of their lives. They found stacks of notes. They immediately seized the auto and nabbed the two passengers and brought them to Ganeshpeth Police Station.

The two passengers Yasim Khan Nustaq Khan and Ashish Kailash Tikkas along with the auto driver were subjected to intense interrogation. During the interrogation it was revealed that both the passengers Yasim Khan Nustaq Khan and Ashish Kailash Tikkas had come to Nagpur from Shivni by MP Transport Bus and alighted near the MP Bus Stand near Nagpur Railway Station. From there they hired the auto to go to some place in Gandhibagh area.

The accused also confessed that they were carrying this huge sum of money for their owner Seth Laxmandas alias Lachu Bhai. The accused also confessed that they had brought such huge sums on previous occasions too.

Immediately the cops of Ganeshpeth Police Station relayed the news to the senior police officials.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-3) Abhinash Kumar arrived at the police station and under his direction, the entire amount was seized and legal proceedings were initiated against both the accused under Section 41 (A) (D) of CRPC.
