RTMNU registrar files police complaint against Kunal Raut, others

Nagpur: A day after being granted bail for splattering blank ink on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s banner, Nagpur Youth Congress President Kunal Raut has now been booked by Ambazari Police following a complaint lodged by Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) Registrar Dr. Raju Hiware for allegedly burning an effigy of Veer Savarkar at the Jamnalal Bajaj Administrative Building of the university.

Apart from Raut, Ashish Mandpe and Ajit Singh of NSUI were booked under Sections 143, 435, and 511 of the IPC.

According to police sources, a movie based on Veer Savarkar was being screened on the university campus on February 1, 2024.

However, Raut, Mandpe, Singh, and approximately 25-30 students approached the university campus and disrupted the screening. They also burnt the effigy of Veer Savarkar.

Subsequently, a complaint was lodged by Hiware at the Ambazari Police Station.
