Nagpur: The lifestyle has changed, drastically. The environment has changed, visibly. With these disturbing changes, a disturbing trend has come to light. A scan of information points out a spurt in suicides by womenfolk with married ones forming the majority. Marriage mess being topping the list of reasons for extreme steps.
Another disturbing trend that is grabbing the headlines pertains to abduction of young as well as minor girls who fall prey to bogus marriage promises doled out by nasty-minded elements. At the same time, many a complaint of kidnapping of young girls are found to be bogus ones.
One more bewildering picture has emerged wherein it was found that the role of women dealing in illicit liquor has gone higher in dimensions.
The matter of facts got revealed through information sought by RTI activist Abhay Kolarkar under Right to Information Act.
The RTI query has also revealed that maximum raids were conducted in regard to sex rackets this year. Till July end, 65 cases of flesh trade were registered. Earlier, in 2014, 11 cases of sex racket were registered while in 2013, 2012, 2011 and 2010 the number of cases in this crime stand at 20, 13, 13 and 14 respectively.
