Meizu, after launching the m1 note, m2 note, and MX5 in India, on Tuesday confirmed the launch of its m2 smartphone in the country next week on Monday.

Launched initially in China back in July, the Meizu m2 smartphone sports a polycarbonate unibody and runs the firm’s proprietary Flyme 4.5 operating system that’s based on Android 5.1 Lollipop.

Considering that the entry-level Meizu smartphone was launched in China at CNY 599 (roughly Rs. 6,200); we can expect the pricing of the handset to be around the same price range. It will likely compete with Xiaomi’s Redmi 2 and Motorola’s Moto E (Gen 2) smartphones.

It bears a 5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) resolution display covered by AGC Dragontrail protective glass with a pixel density of 296ppi, and is powered by a 64-bit quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor clocked at 1.3GHz, clubbed by 2GB LPDDR3 RAM and Mali T720 GPU. The handset’s screen-to-body ratio is 75.6 percent.

The Meizu m2 houses a 13-megapixel rear camera with an f/2.2 aperture, Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protective lens glass and LED flash, while featuring a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture, FotoNation 2.0 smart selfie enhancement, and Face AE face light boost functionality. The handset equips Samsung-made 16GB inbuilt eMMC 5.0 flash storage, which can be further expanded via microSD card (up to 128GB). The handset’s second SIM slot also doubles as a microSD card slot.

As for the connectivity, the Meizu m2 supports 4G FDD-LTE, TD-LTE networks on the SIM cards, GPS, A-GPS, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Micro-USB, and Bluetooth 4.0. Measuring 140.1×68.9×8.7mm, the smartphone weighs 131 grams and is backed by a Sony-made 2500mAh battery, rated to deliver up to 23 hours of talk time on 2G, 10 hours of Internet surfing on 4G, and 680 hours of standby time. The handset was launched in Blue, Pink, Grey, and White colour variants in China.
