Nagpur: The two-day symbolic Assembly session of Vidarbha State organised by Vidarbha Rajya Andolan Samiti (VRAS) at Dr. Vasanatrao Deshpande Hall concluded on Tuesday. The event was part of agitation for forming separate Vidarbha State. The two-day session witnessed stormy debate by Vidarbha protagonists adhering to Parliamentary rules and regulations.
Addressing a press conference after the conclusion of the mock session, the VRAS leaders briefed the media over proceedings of the “House.” The VRAS Convener Ram Nevle said that the members demanded waiver of farmers’ loans and electricity bills. The ‘Government replied to all contentious issues raised by ‘Opposition.’ The proceedings were conducted keeping in mind the last village of Naxal-affected Gadchiroli District as the basis. Shrinivas Khandewale, playing the role of Finance Minister, even presented a Rs 54,000 crore budget, Nevle said.

The shadow Chief Minister Wamanrao Chatap said that the BJP leaders and the Chief Minister himself were creating confusion among the people regarding creation of Vidarbha State. “BJP which came to power on separate Vidarbha issue is no0w betraying the people. But now the people will fight the battle on their own. The Winter Session of Maharashtra Legislature is beginning in city on December 5, 2016. It will be opposed tooth and nail. Morchas will be taken to the Vidhan Sabha and for creating awareness about it, five Dindi Yatras will be taken out. The Dindis taken out from Umarkhed, Shegaon, Sindkhedraja, Deori and Salekasa will traverse through entire Vidarbha and 300 meetings will be held. This time the battle will be fought on “now or never” line. The Winter Session will be the last session of Maharashtra Government. The slogans coined for this “now or never” battle will be ‘Maharashtravadi Vidarbha Chhodo,’ ‘Deta Ki Jata Ki Janatecha Maar Khata,’” Nevle asserted.

It is agitation that will create Vidarbha and not political experiments:

Clarifying on the reports of differences between VRAS and former Advocate General Shrihari Aney over the method of agitation, Chatap said that Aney is opposing the agitational path and weighing election politics as an alternative for achieving the goal of Vidarbha State. “History is evidence that any state was formed on the strength of agitation. A group of 500 people can also create a movement. On the other hand, mentality with ‘Saam-Daam, Dand-Bhed’, creation of a political base is difficult. Even otherwise, leaders like Banwarilal Purohit, Jambuwantrao Dhote and others had adopted ‘battle of ballot’ but failed miserably in achieving the goal,” Chatap stated.

Youths will write a letter to PM with their blood:
The Youth Wing of VRAS will stage an agitation on November 15 across the districts of Vidarbha. During the agitation, the young Vidarbhavadis will write a letter to Prime Minister with their blood and demand formation of Vidarbha State. At the same time, his party will be reminded of its promise on Vidarbha.
