Nagpur: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis kickstarted the final day of campaigning for the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) elections on Tuesday with a high-energy roadshow across the city, riding a Royal Enfield motorcycle. The rally drew massive crowds, with supporters lining the streets, waving flags and raising slogans, turning the event into a show of strength for the BJP ahead of polling.
The roadshow began around 12.15 pm and was joined by several senior BJP leaders as the party intensified its outreach before the January 15 मतदान. Covering key locations across Nagpur, the rally passed through Bharat Mata Chowk, Teen Nal Chowk, Shaheed Chowk, Tanga Stand Chowk, Gandhi Statue, Pandit Bachharaj Chowk, Mahal Chowk, and concluded near the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue at Mahal.
In recent days, CM Fadnavis has focused his campaign squarely on Nagpur, directly engaging with voters through interactive programmes such as “Tarri Poha with Devabhau.” Earlier, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari had also connected with citizens under the “Chana Poha with Nitinji” initiative.
Tuesday marks the last opportunity for candidates and political parties to reach out to voters, as the 48-hour campaign silence period comes into force after 5.30 pm. Municipal Commissioner and Chief Election Officer Dr Abhijeet Chaudhari stated that all election preparations in the city have been completed. Polling for the NMC elections will be held on Thursday from 7.30 am to 5.30 pm, with counting of votes scheduled to begin at 10 am on January 16.
