Nagpur:
A road construction contractor has been booked by Ajni police on the charges of causing death of a youth negligently.

The deceased Ashish Raut, resident of LIG Quarters, Hudkeshwar, used to run a paan kiosk. On February 24, 2017, he was returning home after closing his paan thela on his motorcycle (MH-31/SW 6506). When Ashish was passing through a stretch of road between Shatabdi Nagar Square and Suyog Nagar Square, he could not spot a large ditch dug on the road. As a result, Ashish lost balance over his bike and fell on the road and suffered critical injuries.

Nearby people rushed him to a hospital but Ashish succumbed to injuries during treatment. Ajni police at that time had registered a case of accidental death and investigating the matter further.

During investigation, police found that the road contractor had not installed caution board or had not made any safety arrangement at the dug up ditch. The negligence on the part of the contractor led to Ashish Raut meeting the fatal mishap. Cops have now booked the contractor on charges of causing death of Ashish negligently and probing the case further.
