Nagpur: In a horrifying incident that stunned Nandanvan area residents in Nagpur, a 28-year-old man launched a brutal knife attack on a woman and later ended his own life in the early hours of Thursday. The violent episode unfolded around 3:30 am under the jurisdiction of Nandanvan Police Station.
The deceased has been identified as Balaji Kalyane, originally from Nanded. He had been living in Nagpur on rent while preparing for police recruitment exams.

According to preliminary police findings, the woman is a close relative of Kalyane. He was reportedly pressuring her to marry him, but her father strongly opposed the relationship. When repeated attempts to convince the family failed, Kalyane allegedly stormed into the woman’s home at around 3 am armed with a knife and attacked her in a fit of rage.
After the assault, Kalyane was found dead, with investigators suspecting suicide, though police are probing whether any other angle is involved. The woman suffered serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
Nandanvan Police have registered a case and further investigations are underway.
