Led by Congress corporator Purushottam Hazare
Fed up with several civic problems in their area the residents of Pardi ward staged massive demonstrations at Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) office on Wednesday. Led by Congress corporator Purushottam Hazare, a large number of residents took part in the dharna at NIT.
NIT chairman Dr Deepak Mhaiskar met with the protestors and assured them that their concerns will be addressed by the NIT. Similarly, Nagpur Municipal commissioner also met the protesters. The protestors also gheraoad SNDL office. The aggrieved residents of east Nagpur complained of the pathetic road conditions, water logging and lack of gutter lines in their wards. The residents in the morcha shouted slogans against the NIT administration.
Corporator Hazare said that when the corporators approach NIT with the problems in their wards, they turned back by the NIT , on the grounds that civic ward problems do not come under the ambit of NIT.
Hazare further said that NIT does not take initiatives for solving the problems prevailing in the wards and the residents have to suffer the civic apathy. He also protested against the NIT’s decision to increase the development charges to ` 123. This is injustice to the people and this decision should be taken back.
Vinod Chakole, Arun Kuthe, Gulabrao Harode, Rupesh Makde, Nitin Bante , Pradeep Shende, Ankush Bhovte, Jawahar Patle, Mohan Waghaye, Vijay Tomar, Ashok Pardhi,Bandu Shendre, Gani Khan, Ramesh Bhalekar and huge number of residents of East Nagpur participated in the protest.
