Report on 19 cases of farmers’ suicides in district submitted before Select Committee

DSC_2322Nagpur: A report on the 19 cases of farmers’ suicides reported in Nagpur District since the past one year was put before the District Select Committee on Tuesday (March 10). The meeting of the District Select Committee was held at Chhatrapati Shivaji Hall in the Office of Collector. It was presided over by Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad Shivajirao Jondhale. Others present at the meeting include Resident Deputy Collector Ravindra Kumbhare and District Superintending Agriculture Officer Archana Kadu. The meeting deliberated the report in detail.

The report submitted before the Select Committee pertained to the cases of suicides committed by farmers including Ramram Gulabrao Tonge of Dadhera in Kalmeshwar Taluka, Vitthal Ganpat Kavadkar of Tishti, Gajanan Yuvraj Dhavangale & Chandu Nagorao Dhote, both of Telkamthi, Pralhad Mouju Patil of Mandvi, Jagdish Bhagwat Raut of Lakhma, Ramrao Baliram Chepatkar of Waghoda in Parshioni Taluka, Murli Sadashiv Bhute of Satak, Shashikala Motiram Nikam of Thadipaoni, Arun Ramchandra Borde of Singarkheda in Narkhed Taluka, Sitaram Gomaji Bangde of Kelvad, Arvind Rambhau Sonekar of Abandi, Maroti Bhivrao Kanhake of Khursapar, Jitendra Shankarrao Varthi of Vadadh, Sadashiv Natthu Marbate of Ghatrohna, Pankaj Chirkut Nehare of Gharatwada, Ishwar Manohar Thorane of Uparwahi, Ashok Ramdas Suryavanshi of Kargaon, and Vijay Santosh Meshram of Mohgaon.

The above mentioned 19 farmers reportedly committed suicides in Nagpur District since the past one year.
