Nagpur: Senior BJP Corporator Avinash Thakre, in a letter sent to Municipal Commissioner, has demanded immediate removal of tower hoardings (ad posts) erected between Somalwada Square and Pride Hotel on a stretch of Wardha Road terming them ‘very dangerous’ and ‘life threatening’ to citizens. “In view of collapse of a giant hoarding near the house of Gourkar adjacent to Pride Hotel due to stormy winds yesterday (June 8), removal of other tower hoardings has become necessary to avoid loss of lives. The tower hoardings are erected just near the busy road and adjacent to power lines. One of such hoardings collapsed in the premises of Gourkar’s house and a nearby car got crushed under it. Had the same hoarding collapsed on Wardha Road it had not only snapped the live power lines but crashed on passing vehicles causing a number of human casualties,” Thakre warned in his letter.
Moreover, due to construction activity for Metro Rail, the width of Wardha Road has got reduced. Considering all these hazardous aspects, the tower hoardings (ad posts) should immediately be removed, Thakre urged.
