Rash driving claims another young life

Some youngsters do not seem to learn from the mistakes committed by others. The advertisements, slogans, billboards all inform the road users that Speed thrills but kills. Yet the youth get excited and enjoy the speed of their vehicles. Only few survive to tell the thrill.

In a similar incident which occurred on May 8, 2015, at around 12:10 am the accused driver identified as Vicky Shankar Bhagatkar aged 20 years and resident of Timki Bhankheda Nagpur who had two passengers seated in his van bearing RTO registration No MH-31/ DV-6052. He then took them on a wild ride on Cement Road on Vaishali Nagar near Shaitan Square in the jurisdiction of Panchpaoli Police Station. He was driving the van so fast that the vehicle slipped near Shaitan Square and toppled over critically injuring the passengers and the driver.

The accused driver Vicky Shankar Bhagatkar who was critically wounded was rushed to Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (Mayo) where he was undergoing treatment. The other two passengers escaped with minor injuries.

However on May 10, 2015 at around 11:00 pm, the doctors attending to the accused driver Vicky Shankar Bhagatkar declared him dead while undergoing treatment.

Police Sub Inspector Kachore of Panchpaoli Police Station has registered a case against the accused driver Vicky Shankar Bhagatkar under section 279, 338, 337 and 304 (A) of Indian Penal Code.
