Ram Raheem verdict: Amidst chaos and rage, Dera Chief assures court presence on Friday

Ahead of the expected verdict on Friday against Dera Sacha Sauda Chief Gurmeet Ram Raheem, on rape charges of two women followers nearly 15 years ago, the city of Chnadigarh and Panchkula are in a state of complete standstill.

Ram Raheem, has also confirmed that he will be present at the court for the hearing. “Although, I have back pain, I will abide by the law and will go to court. I have faith in God. Please maintain peace,” tweeted the Messenger of God actor aka the‘bling guru’.

The verdict is to be pronounced on Friday and Haryana government has stated that it will take help of army to maintain peace and order in the region.

Nearly two lakhs of Ram Rahim’s followers have gathered already in Panchkula, some 15 kms from Chandigarh, where the ruling will be delivered tomorrow at 2.30 pm. Many of them say they have walked long distances in the hope of glimpsing the 50-year-old. A complete ban has been issued on carrying of firearms, a spokesperson said. Also, schools and colleges of the region have been shut down fearing public outrage. The Haryana government is also keeping a close eye on social media to prevent spread of rumours.
