Rajnath attends Gadkari function, meets def officials in city

Nagpur: Defence minister Rajnath Singh paid a quick visit to the city, where he attended a private function at Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari’s home. Singh landed at Nagpur in his official aircraft at 12 noon and held a meeting with stakeholders of the defence sector at the Sonegaon air base soon after landing. After that he reached Gadkari’s residence at Wardha Road.

Gadkari had hosted a function on the occasion of his wife’s birthday and grandson’s thread ceremony. It was attended by some of the local leaders and his close circle. Singh stayed at Gadkari’s house for nearly an hour before flying back.

Those who attended the meeting at the air base included officials of DRDO, Air-Officer-Commanding in chief Air Marshal Shashiker Chaudhary, and chairman-cum-managing director of Yantra India Limited Rajeev Puri, who heads the PSU formed out of ordnance factories last year. Various aspects, including future prospects of the factories, were discussed during the visit.

A press release issued from the defence PRO’s office said Singh was briefed about various activities undertaken by the defence establishments in this region. The minister asked all stakeholders at Nagpur to focus on Atma Nirbhar Bharat policy in defence while keeping pace with technology outside. He also asked the commanders to follow the correct maintenace and operational practices with safety of personnel in mind.
