One of the most awaited films of this year, Akshay Kumar – Rajinikanth starrer 2.0 is delayed yet again. There was buzz that the film was to release on Independence Day this year with Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroopam 2. However, that ain’t happening as the sci-fi film is postponed yet again and will release only in 2019. Well, this is majorly because a lot of VFX work is still pending as the rendering of huge chunks is yet to be done which is why the makers have decided to push 2.0’s release to the next year.
A source while talking about this development told Bollywood Hungama, ” With the amount of VFX work on 2.0 that is still pending, there is no way the makers will be able to release the film this year. In fact, the producers are currently working out a perfect release date for the film that will now hit screens in 2019. An announcement of the same will be done in the last quarter of the year. ”
The source also further added saying “By this year-end, the makers of 2.0 are looking at completing a majority of the VFX work but this constant delayed has created yet another problem and this time it is the budget that has gone haywire”
Directed by Shankar, 2.0 stars Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar in key roles. Akshay is reportedly playing an antagonist in the film. Apart from these two biggies, the film also stars Amy Jackson. If reports are to be believed, 2.0 demonstrates incredible artificial intelligence.
