Conferring of Degree is a prestigious event in the life of a student. The event is usually observed all over the world with a lot of pomp and show. There are certain rites and rituals that go with the conferring of the degree. However, to get bestowed the degree and medal for excellence and for topping from the hands of a distinguished guest like Padma Vibhushan Dr A K Kakodkar who is the Former Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, Govt. of India and Director,and IIT Delhi Director Dr R K Shevagaonkar was very prestigious and proud moment for the recipients.
The degree conferring at G H Raisoni College of Engineering followed all the rituals as they were followed by the British. This included even the attire. Right from the Chairman of G H Raisoni College of Engineering to all the guests, heads of the departments, Guests everyone on the dais was attired in golden bordered or golden coloured cassocks. The impressive march and followed by the entire proceedings worked with clockwise precession.
After the guests and the lecturers and professors left the auditorium, the students who were at the best, maintained discipline and decorum burst out with a big cheer and applause.
What followed then was mixed feelings and emotions that erupted among the students. This was the last day of their college. The joy of getting a degree finally, the sadness of having to lose all the friends and the fun that they had in the college brought out mixed reactions. While some hugged, some simply jumped, laughed, cried etc.
What followed was simply adorable young guys and gals in their very best attire, well made up and for once had formal instead of the jeans and T-Shirt attire who posed for the photographs.
