Nagpur: The newly launched Train 26102/01 Ajni–Pune–Ajni Vande Bharat Express has turned out to be an instant hit. Within just two days of operation, the train has recorded over 134% occupancy and created a waiting list – a feat unmatched by any other Vande Bharat route in India.
Record Occupancy and Revenue
- Operating between Ajni (Nagpur) and Pune, the train’s occupancy has crossed 134%, meaning seat demand is nearly one-third higher than capacity.
- Currently running with 8 coaches, the train accommodates 530 passengers – 52 in Executive Class (EC) and 478 in Chair Car (CC).
- On August 12, the train earned ₹8,96,632, and on August 13, it earned ₹9,64,080 – totalling ₹18,60,712 in just two trips.
- Officials say that if the trend continues, the railways may consider adding more coaches to meet demand.
Fare and Demand
- CC fares start at ₹2,020 and rise to ₹2,140 closer to the travel date.
- EC fares start at ₹3,080 and go up to ₹3,815.
- Despite being 2–4 times more expensive than bus fares, both classes are running at full capacity.
- Out of over 130 Vande Bharat trains operating nationwide, only this Nagpur–Pune route reached a waiting list within two days of launch.
