Minister of State for Tribal Development, Social Justice and Special Assistance Dilip Kamble has ordered a probe into tenders scam pertaining to supply of computers and other material to Government and private hostels.

Replying to Starred Question raised by NCP member Jaideo Gaekwad in Vidhan Parishad (Council) the Minister Kamble said the Social Justice Department, from 2010 to 2014, had invited tenders for supplying computers and other related material to students of Government and private hostels. The terms of the tenders included giving computer training at the rate of Rs 9551 per student per year. However, initially, the entire contract was awarded to only one firm Hindustan Computers sans tenders. But in a ruling against the firm, court ordered awarding of contract by tender system. Later, three companies were awarded the tenders and the companies in return took a fund of Rs 24 crore from Government. Shockingly, the companies did not provide any computer training to the students, said the Minister Kamble and ordered a probe into the matter.
