Priyanka Chopra to host UN’s fest with Hugh Jackman!

Priyanka Chopra’s popularity is just soaring by the day and all her fans are rejoicing her international feat post the success of Quantico and fresh new rage created around her upcoming Hollywood debut Baywatch. Now this global Indian celebrity has added another crown to her glory by being a part of forthcoming Global Citizen Festival, a UN initiative to be launched on July 27. Joining her will be Usher, its ambassador, and Hugh Evans, the CEO, in New York.

Priyanka has been a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for the last eight years. She will co-host the fifth edition of the annual festival, a no ticket event, on September 24, in New York’s Central Park. Accompanying her will be TV show host Chelsea Handler, actors Hugh Jackman with wife Deborra-Lee, Neil Patrick Harris, Salma Hayek Pinault and comedian Seth Meyers.
“I’m looking forward to co-hosting the event. It’s a first and that too with such an amazing group of talent,” the actress exclaimed with joy. The key acts for the event include Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, Selena Gomez, Major Lazer and Metallica. There will be special performances by Usher, Chris Martin, Eddie Vedder, Ellie Goulding, Yandel and Yusuf aka Cat Stevens.

Meanwhile, plans are afoot to bring the initiative to India in November and the desi girl will head to the Capital, followed by Mumbai and other cities, for the launch. “The spirit of the Global Citizen Festival is dear to me. I’ve been given many opportunities to travel through my work, and now, I see the world as an interconnected force. This festival is an incredible example of looking across borders and working together for the greater good.”

The festival in the Big Apple showcases the work of representatives from around the world targeting goals set by the UN in the last five years. These include policy changes and contribution to girls’ education, women’s equality, health, water, sanitation as well as progress in the fields of environment, finance and innovation that have impacted the lives of 656 million people worldwide.

“This year’s focus is women and girls, which is a prevalent topic in our society. I hope lending my voice to this event can help bring about a positive impact,” asserted PeeCee.
