Press associations across State condemn murder of Ravikant Kamble’s mother, daughter

Nagpur: Various press associations and media houses across Maharashtra have condemned the brutal killing of Nagpur Today crime reporter Ravikant Kamble’s mother Ushatai and his innocent one and half year old daughter Rashi.

Condemning the act, the Nagpur Union of Working Journalists (NUWJ), Tilak Patrakar Bhavan Trust, Patrakar Club of Nagpur and the Maharashtra Union of Working Journalists (MUWJ) and Mumbai Press Club have demanded immediate arrest of the culprits and hand out harsh punishment to them.

The NUWJ President and Chairman of Divisional Accreditation Committee, Nagpur Division, Bramhashankar Tripathi, NUWJ General Secretary, TPB Trust General Secretary and MUWJ Secretary Shirish Borkar, TPB Trust President, Press Club President, MUWJ President and Member of State Accreditation Committee Pradip Kumar Maitra and other office-bearers have demanded immediate arrest of all the accused involved in this sensational incident and unravelling of the mystery behind the case.

Meanwhile Mumbai Press Club in its statement by the club’s secretary Dharmendra Jore has also condemned the ghastly killing Kamble’s mother and daughter.

Expressing grief over Kamble’s loss, the Jore stated, “The incident is shocking. We are deeply concerned about the safety of working journalists and their families.”

Ravikant Kamble, who is a crime reporter with news website Nagpur Today, had lodged a complaint of the kidnapping on Saturday. Sadly, his mother and daughter were found murdered on Sunday morning in a school building in the middle of the city.

Mumbai Press Club has also raised the demand that the culprits be arrested immediately. The police should ensure that the accused are punished in a manner which proves a deterrent against carrying out such gruesome murders, the release state.

“We stand in solidarity with the affected family”, Jore added.
