Pravin Pawar boasted of 95 % selection rate of his students
Pravin Pawar, Director of IIT Gurukul, while speaking exclusively with Nagpur Today, said that he is not interested in business and making money, instead, he loves pursuing teaching children at the same time earn a decent and honourable livelihood.
Limited number of students and intensive coaching:
Pravin Pawar said that he does not take hundreds of students for coaching purpose. Instead, he admits only 40 students every year and undertakes intensive coaching to bring out 100 % results. He claimed that no student is loser. Every student can crack IIT if he or she has a will to study. He claimed that he can make a significant increase of 10-20 % from his SSC scores. He went on to say “bring me any 40 year-old farmer who has passed SSC (Class X), and I will make him crack IIT examinations.” According to him, two years time is a big span. He claimed that the very name institute suggests Guru’s (teacher) Kul (Residence). “Since this is my house as well as educational premises, students stay on the top floor and follow a strict regime which includes 12 hours of studies (both coaching as well as self study).”
He claimed that out of 40 students enrolled last year, 38 (95%) cleared IIT. However, his words of advice to students is “If you are entertaining and giving importance to other things like TV, mobile phones, functions (marriages, parties) and other programmes (musical, circus, plays) etc, you can forget the dream of IIT”. Students who aim to crack IIT should focus continuously for 10-12 hours only on studies. He added that there are no shortcuts to success in IIT exams.
At Gurukul IIT, he said that every day schedule includes 3 lectures of Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics for 6 hours. 6 hours of self study (3 hours in the morning and 3 hours in the evening). Only those students who have a will to study can crack the IIT. Those students who have scored 70 % in SSC examinations can crack IIT Jee if he or she works properly under proper guidance.
Some points to ponder:
- Most people work without any goals
- To succeed one must have long term and short term goals
- Goals must be challenging, achievable, flexible and time-bound
- We must remind ourselves of our goals every-day
- We must plan to achieve our goals
