Nagpur: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has appointed senior Congress leader Prafulla Vinodrao Gudadhe as the new President of the Nagpur City District Congress Committee as part of a major organisational restructuring across Maharashtra.
The announcement was made through an official press release issued by AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal on May 20, 2026. According to the release, Congress President approved the restructuring of organisational districts in Maharashtra to strengthen the party’s organisational performance and grassroots presence.
Prafulla Gudadhe’s appointment comes under the party’s “Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan,” an initiative aimed at revamping district-level leadership after detailed reviews by AICC observers and consultations with senior party leaders.
In the official list of newly appointed district presidents, Nagpur City has been assigned to Shri Prafull Vinodrao Gudadhe.
The reshuffle is being viewed as an important move for Congress in Nagpur, a politically significant city and the headquarters of the RSS. Party leaders believe the new appointments are intended to strengthen booth-level organisation, energise local workers, and prepare for upcoming civic and assembly political battles in the region.
Apart from Nagpur, Congress also announced appointments for several Vidarbha districts, including Bhandara, Chandrapur City, Chandrapur Rural, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Wardha, Washim, and Yavatmal.
Political observers say the appointment of Prafulla Gudadhe could play a key role in rebuilding the Congress organisation in Nagpur city, where the party has been attempting to regain lost ground over the past several years.
