Pradeep Pohane to fill the shoe of Standing Committee’s president

Nagpur: Pradeep Pohane, a BJP corporator of Prabhag 24 will lead the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (MNC)’s Standing Committee from March 1.

The outgoing president Virendra Kukreja is completing his tenure on March 1 following which Pohane will fill the shoe of Standing Committee’s president.

As per the Maharashtra Municipal Act, 50% of employee relieved of their tenure every year. The 16 member standing committee consist 12 members from the BJP. On Wednesday, former Mayor Praveen Datke revealed all new members from the BJP at the NMCs meeting. The new members include, Pradeep Pohane, Vaishali Rohankar, Shraddha Pathak, Yashashri Nandanwar, Jagdeesh Gwalbanshi, Warsha Thakre, Sneha Bihari, Vandana Bhagat, Niranjana Patil, Sanjay Chavre, Lakhan Yerwar and Vijay Chutle.

While Dinesh Yadav and Gargi Chopra are the new entrees from the Congress party in the standing committee.

Initially, after the start of the work of the House, Mayor Nanda Zichkar announced the names of new members after completing the selection process. Subsequently, all paid a tribute to the soldiers who were killed in a terrorist attack in Pulwama following which the work of the house was postponed. The adjourned meeting has been organized on February 26.
