Power outage for 6 hrs affects water supply

kanhan-breakdown-1Nagpur: There was no water supply from Kanhan water-treatment plant in city on Sunday. As a result water supply was affected in North-East and South-West regions of Nagpur. The water supply was disrupted for six hours in the city due to blast in metering cubicles of 33 kv electricity centre at the water treatment plant. Due to the blast, the water pumping got disrupted in the plant.

The blast occurred at 6.15 am on Sunday at the 33 KV electricity centre of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company limited (MSEDCL), which resulted in technical problems in the metering cubicles of the water treatment plant. MSEDCL officials were immediately informed about the blast.

The electricity supply was disrupted between 6.15 am to 12.15 pm. The MSEDCL team reached the spot to detect the problem. Following which the the engineers of the electrical department of OCW rectified the repair work. Managing director of OCW Pravin Sharan and head of Kanhan water supply centre Dinesh Atalkar inspected the water treatment plant.

Water supply was affected in North-East and South-West regions of Nagpur due to repair work.
