Nagpur: The Central Power Ministry has approved the use of Smart Grid System for power distribution in Congress Nagar. The Central Government had directed all State government to establish this Smart Grid System to improve the power distribution. After this the Power Department of the State Government has chosen Congress Nagar of Nagpur and Amravati from Vidarbha to run this Smart Grid System on a Pilot Project basis.
On the basis of the directives of the Central Government, the Power Department had submitted the Project Report to the Central Government.
Under the National Smart Grid Mission, a project costing Rs 139.14 Crores for power distribution in Congress Nagar was designed. Of this 30% i.e. a grant of Rs 41.74 Crores will be given the Central Government.
Under the smart Grid System, Power Generation, Power Distribution and Power Consumer details will be made smart.
According to Power Minister, the entire process from power generation to the power generation will be made on-line. Using modern and advanced techniques, power consumers will be offered better power for consumption.
