Police nab bogus Sahara Samay scribe who blackmailed people for extortion of money

Nagpur News: Finally, the bogus journalist, who himself introduced as Sahara Samay TV News Channel Sub-Editor and blackmailed and cheated dozens of people, fell into police dragnet.

The Tehsil Police arrested the fake journalist when Sahara Samay came to  know about the “journalist,” who blackmailed some prominent personalities by doling out threats of “exposing” them and extorting money. Sahara Samay then lodged a complaint with Tehsil Police Station in Nagpur. Acting on the complaint, police arrested the “Sub-Editor” of the TV News Channel.

The investigation into the matter revealed that the bogus scribe’s real name is Vishwanath Chakraborti, a native of West Bengal. He was in Nagpur since the past 7-8 days and was targeting the potential “clients”. Before arriving to Nagpur, Vishwanath Chakraborti stayed in Mumbai for many years where he “successfully” blackmailed many people and recovered bounties. Four offences have been registered at Mumbai CST against Vishwanath in this connection. Tehsil police have seized the bogus ID Card and Visiting Cards from Vishwanath’s possession. Apart from fake ID Card and bogus visiting cards, police have recovered a counterfeit ID Card of a West Bengal newspaper. Vishwanath Chakraborti visited various cities and used to blackmail by in the name of investigative journalist.

The Tehsil police have, at present, have arrested on the charges of blackmailing and misusing the name of Sahara Samay under section 420 of the IPC. Now, police have questioning the bogus scribe for information over how many people fell prey to his tricks and how much amounts have been extorted by him.
