Altercation at a bar leads to hospital drama

According to police sources, the chain of events began on the night of January 31, when Khandwe visited the Grand Bar in Wadi. There, he reportedly got into an altercation with four individuals, during which he sustained a head injury after being struck with a water jug. Responding to the situation, Wadi Police officers, including beat marshals Pankaj Jagdish Madavi (41) and Ganesh, escorted him to Mayo Hospital for treatment.

However, once inside the hospital, Khandwe allegedly became aggressive, verbally abusing the attending doctor and launching a physical attack on Madavi and Ganesh. Despite efforts to restrain him, he also abused Maharashtra Security Force (MSF) personnel before fleeing the hospital premises.

Legal actions initiated

Following the incident, Madavi and Ganesh reported the assault to Wadi Police Station and later filed a formal complaint with Tehsil Police, leading to the registration of a case against Khandwe. In a twist, Khandwe also lodged a counter-complaint, accusing Madavi of assault and verbal abuse.

A senior police official confirmed that an internal probe is underway, and appropriate disciplinary action will be taken based on the findings. Meanwhile, the incident has raised concerns over the conduct of police personnel and their accountability in public settings.
