Nagpur: A police constable posted at Wathoda Police Station in Nagpur allegedly attempted suicide by consuming poison at his residence on Sunday evening. He is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital and is reported to be out of danger.
The constable has been identified as Jayant Zade (38), a resident of Kharbi. According to preliminary information, Zade consumed poison around 4 pm. However, his condition began to deteriorate later in the evening, around 7 pm.
Before his health worsened, Zade reportedly informed his wife about consuming poison. Alarmed by the situation, family members immediately contacted his colleagues for assistance. Acting swiftly, fellow police personnel rushed him to a nearby private hospital near Jagnade Square, where he was admitted for emergency treatment.
On receiving information, Police Inspector Harish Borade visited the hospital to assess the situation. He confirmed that the constable is responding well to treatment and his condition is now stable.
Preliminary reports indicate that a domestic issue may have driven Zade to take the extreme step, though the exact cause is yet to be ascertained. No case has been registered so far, and further inquiry is underway.
